How does the free trial work?
Download MacBend and use the full effect free for 24 hours from first launch — no account, no card. When the trial ends, the effect pauses and MacBend shows a buy button. Enter the license key from your purchase and everything continues exactly where you left off, presets included.
Why does macOS warn me when I first open MacBend?
MacBend is sold directly from this site, outside the Mac App Store, so macOS shows a one-time warning for apps without an Apple notarization ticket. Right-click the app and choose Open, or visit System Settings → Privacy & Security and press Open Anyway. You'll also be asked once to allow Screen Recording — that's how the app reads the desktop to draw the fade.
Does MacBend see or store my screen?
No. macOS requires the Screen Recording permission for any app that reads desktop pixels, but MacBend sends each frame straight to the GPU for the fade and discards it immediately. Nothing is recorded, written to disk, or uploaded — there is no server to send it to.
Which Macs are supported?
Apple silicon MacBooks running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Desktop Macs and older Intel MacBooks don't have the required lid-angle sensor.
